Born in Scranton, son of the late Leo and Ella Mae Green Detrick, he attended Scranton public schools and was an Army National Guard veteran, serving with Company B, 109th Infantry. Before his retirement, he was employed as a security guard for the Scranton Public Library. He was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Debra Moore, Ella Mae Wilbur and Rhonda Detrick, all of Scranton; Sarah DiMirco, Dunmore; and Darlene Larkin, Dickson City; four sons, Arnold, Taylor; George, Bethlehem; and Jacob and Brian, both of Scranton; a sister, Marilyn Mellody, Throop; two brothers, Ronald, Scranton; and Leo, Painted Post, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Diane Rogo, Dorothy Zavitsky, Arlene Swaha and Beverly Detrick, and a brother, George.
The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., with services by the Rev. Matthew Armstrong, pastor, Asbury and Providence United Methodist churches. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
