Floyd Welles, Honesdale Road, Waymart, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1980, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Carbondale, after an illness.
His wife is the former Florence Beckwith Carney.
Born in Binghamton, N.Y., son of the late Edward and Mildred White Welles, he resided in Lancaster until moving to Waymart 11 years ago. Mr. Welles was a member of Waymart Baptit Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. William (Shirley) Mannis; Miss Arlene Welles, both of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; and Mrs. Loretta Oakley, Allentown; six sons, Floyd, Port Jervis, N.Y.; Donald, Tyler Hil; Theodore, Sayre; Carl, Waymart, and David Welles, U.S. Navy Medical Corps, stationed in Charleston, S.C., and Thomas Carney, Waymart; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A son, Lee, died in 1968.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Herbert E. Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont street, Waymart, with services by the Rev. Arthur Richner, pastor, Waymart Baptist Church. Interment, Clinton Center cemetery.
Pallbearers: Warren Beckwith, Russell Beckwith, Lyman Carney, Burton Chapman, Grant Fairchild and Edward Gillette.
Floyd was married three times with children by each.
1st wife Thelma Philo, children; Floyd Jr.,Donald, Theodore Welles.
2nd wife Frances I. Field, children; Shirley and Arlene Welles.
3rd wife Florence L. Beckwith Carney, children; Carl and David Welles.
