She married Alexander Selkirk Atwood in 1866, Polk County, Missouri. Alexander served in the Union Army during the Civil War and is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Died, on July 11, at Kansas City, and interred in Machpelah cemetery on the 12th, Mrs. Emily Atwood, a former resident of Lexington.
