NAPPANEE -- Danny L. Slabaugh, 68, of 8 Boulder Court, died at 2:58 a.m. Monday (Feb. 2, 2009) in Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born March 1, 1940, in Syracuse to Ernest A. and Lois M. (Carl) Slabaugh.

Mr. Slabaugh is survived by his mother of Nappanee; his sister, Kim (David) Ingle of Nappanee; and three brothers, Billy, Jody and Mikel Slabaugh, all of Nappanee.

One sister, Karole Maust, preceded him in death.

Mr. Slabaugh was a 1958 graduate of Nappanee High School and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1962 to 1964. He graduated from DeVry Technical Institute, Chicago, and worked at Holiday Ramber in the service and warranty department.

He was a member of the Nappanee American Legion and VFW, and was a former member of the Nappanee Jaycees.

Friends may call one hour prior to Thursday's 2 p.m. memorial service at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee. The Rev. Janet McFall-Brown will officiate. Cremation will take place. Inurnment and military graveside services in South Union Cemetery will immediately follow the memorial service.

Memorials may be given to the Nappanee American Legion.
