Grover Jerry Barnes Jr., 90, died April 3, 2009, at a Tulsa Hospital.

He was born August 18, 1918, at Muskogee, OK, to Grover Jerry Barnes Sr. and Myrtle Laxton Barnes.

He was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow.

In addition to his parents, Grover was preceded in death by his grandson Austin Barnes and 5 baby granddaughters.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Barnes of the home; son, Michael Barnes and wife Judy of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter, Frances Rothhammer and husband Chester of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter Barbara Ellen Morgan and husband Trace of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Along with 7 grandchildren, Greg and Tammie Barnes of Flower Mound, Texas, Michelle and Joe Stelzig of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Joshua, Amy and Sara Beth Rothhammer of Broken Arrow, and Matthew and Travis Morgan of Stillwater; and 5 great grandchildren.

He served in WWII as a Navy Seabee. After the war he worked as a lineman for PSO and retired in 1981.

Services were Tuesday, April 7 at First Baptist Church with interment at Floral Haven Cemetery, both in Broken Arrow, Ok. Floral Haven Funeral Service of Broken Arrow was in charge of arrangements.
