Verna Rainey Daines, 90, of Logan, died on Tuesday, March 6, 1990 at the home of her daughter in North Logan.


She was born August 3, 1899 in Freedom, Wyoming, the daughter of David William and Janet Hanson Rainey.


She married Newel George Daines, Sr. on March 2, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died on May 31, 1959.


Reared in Star Valley; graduate of Brigham Young College, and attended Utah State Agricultural College. Had been in civic and political affairs. Member, DUP. Active member of the LDS Church.


Surviving: Four daughters, seven sons, Mrs. Vern (Beulah) Petersen, and Robert W. Daines, both Brigham City; Mrs. Duane (Patricia) Chadwick, and Samuel R. Daines, both North Logan; Newel G. Daines, Jr., David R. Daines, Jonathan H. Daines, and Stephen P. Daines, all Logan; Janet McCowin, San Francisco, Calif.; Paul H. Daines, Montpelier, Idaho; Mrs. Jack (Helen) Harvath, Fairfield, Calif.; 64 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, one brother, and two great-grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Logan 5th-18th Ward Chapel, 502 East 300 North, with Bishop Don E. Larsen conducting. Friends may call on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, Logan, and at the Church on Saturday morning from 11:30 till the time of the services.
Interment: Logan City Cemetery.
