Charles Michael Nistler was born November 21, 1952 in Beach, North Dakota. Charley was the seventh of 10 children born to Louise and Werner Nistler.
Charley grew up on the family farm outside Golva, North Dakota. When Charley was seven, the family moved into the town of Beach. Charley graduated from Beach High School in 1970. After high school, Charley attended the University of North Dakota and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1979. Charley served his country in the US Army, stationed in Brussels, Belgium.
After graduation from college, Charley moved to Portland, Oregon where he lived with brothers Steve and Werner. Charley became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Arthur Young and Company and Touchmark. He met Jana Moroshita in 1985, and they married June 25, 1988. Charley and Jana moved to Billings, Montana, where Charley continued his accounting career. They moved back to Portland in 1991. Jana and Charley became the proud parents of Conor born April 4, 1994 and Cayla born August 8, 1996. For the past many years, Charley worked in various accounting positions and worked on many real-estate deals.
Charley loved spending time with his family. In addition he played basketball on a weekly basis with family and friends. He completed the Portland marathon, numerous half marathons, participated in many Hood to Coast relays, and Seattle to Portland bike rides with family and friends. His friends already feel a loss for his enthusiasm for almost any outdoor trip. He was so happy on these outings.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Werner Nistler. His is survived by his beloved wife Jana; children Conor and Cayla; sisters Betty Haupert, Mary Jane Schaap, Phyllis Fuller, Judi Maker, Arlene Farnsworth and Sherry Oja; brothers Werner, Joe and Steve; 40 nieces and nephews, and his brothers and sisters in law. We lost a Christian Soldier, Best Friend, and Brother. We are forever grateful for knowing Charley. Fortunately, we all had "many" wonderful times with Charley. When he was in his element, no one had a bigger smile and appreciation for the day, family, and friends than Charley. When out time comes, we will know right where to find Charley. We can already see his smile, feel his big handshake, and find comfort in an everlasting friendship.
