Passed away Tuesday April 14, 2009 at the his home, age 91 years. Arnold George Baker was born in Frankenmuth on September 23, 1917 to Gustav and Amanda (Ruff) Baker.

He attended Lutheran Schools and Frankenmuth Public Schools through grade 10 and later Saginaw Business Institute and Dale Carnegie Institute.
He is a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.

He married Katherine Becker from Indiantown on October 25, 1941. Katherine died on June 12, 1998. They were married for 57 years and had 7 children.

He remarried Ruth (Satchel) Abraham on March 17, 2001.

He worked for his father as a carpenter from 1939 to 1941 when he took over and started Baker Builders. Arnold built many homes, commercial and industrial buildings in and around Frankenmuth. He built a reputation for quality custom homes and developed Harlan Acres and Eastgate subdivisions. He retired from the business in 1990.

Arnold was a charter member and past president of Frankenmuth Lions Club with 50 years of perfect attendance and received the Melvin Jones Honor for dedicated services.
He was past president of Frankenmuth Conservation Club, Frankenmuth High School Athletic Club and Frankenmuth Board of Trade.
He was also a honorary member of Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce.

His business accomplishments included part owner and president of Hubinger Lumber Co and member of Saginaw Builders Association.

His love of hunting and fishing lead to becoming president of Frankenmuth Fox Hunters Club and member of Mid Forest Lodge.

He enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing in Michigan and moose hunting in Canada as well as trips to Wyoming and Montana to hunt Antelope and Mule Deer.
He was an avid golfer with his Wednesday foursome and enjoyed playing cards with friends.

He leaves 7 children and 2 step-children. Jim (Leslie) Baker of Milford, Ken (Pam) Baker of Frankenmuth, Tom (Debbie) Baker of Frankenmuth, Bob Baker of Grand Blanc, Joann (Win) Burrington of Rochester Hills, Karen (Lupe) Mier of Belleview, NE, Marlene (Jefferson) Perry of Upland, CA, Ruthie (Rick) Montcalm of Monroe, MI, Christie (Jim) Cook of Frankenmuth and 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by sisters Emma Beyerly, Amelia Baker, and Nora Eischer and brothers Walter, Norman and Herman Baker.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 A.M. Saturday April 18, 2009 at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 A.M. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.

Rev. Mark Brandt will officiate with burial after services in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw.

Arnolds' family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 1-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Foundation, Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Hospice of Hope or charity of donor's choice.
