Gertrude L. "Trudy" Gray, 95, of Alpena, Michigan and formerly of Battle Creek and Traverse City died at her home on Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 2009. She was born in Marquette, Michigan on January 7, 1914 the daughter of William and Lena (Koepp) Reader. Trudy married Richard H. "Dick" Gray in Bryan, Ohio on April 18, 1938. Dick preceded her in death on November 5, 1992. Trudy is survived by her children, Rodger (Pat) Gray of Rapid City, Rev. Barton (Laura) Gray of Alpena and Debora (Kevin) King of Maine; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian Alden of Arizona. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Reader and a sister, Lois Hansen. Trudy was a longtime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Battle Creek and served as a member and past-president of the St. Paul's Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Valparaiso Guild and the Battle Creek Area Lioness. Trudy enjoyed vacationing with her husband in Arizona, golfing, bowling and spending time with her family. At the request of the family, they will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Trudy's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary L. Siefert of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials directed to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 349 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek, 49017 would be appreciated.
