A funeral mass for Melvin L. "Melon" Gonzales, 51, a lifelong resident of Grants, will be held at 7 p.m. on April 23, 2009, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. The Most Rev. Alberto Avella will be the celebrant. Visitation will take place on April 22, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at the church with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Burial will will follow the mass at Grants Memorial Park.
He was born on April 24, 1957, in Grants, to Joe P. Gonzales and Emma Sanchez Gonzales and passed away on April 18, 2009.
He is survived by his parents: Joe P. and Emma Gonzales; sister: Lucy Torrez; brothers: Eloy Sanchez and wife Felipa, John Gonzales, Ted Gonzales and wife Evelyn, Rudy Gonzales and Bernie Gonzales and fianc�©e Cecilia Trujillo; numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; Larry Joe Gonzales and Ralph Gonzales.
Pallbearers include: Anthony Gonzales, Danny Torrez, Steven Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales, Gomer Chavez and Joe Estrada.
