MARY DAUGHERTY RENTZ-COMPTON was born on 19 July 1829 in Leinfelden, (Near Stuttgart), Germany to Johann "John" George Rentz (1800 - 1881) and Marguerite Ann Eckhardt (1804 - c1852).
Mary immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1831 from Leinfelden. She married Richard James Compton on 27 Dec 1845 in Marengo County, Alabama, and they had FIVE children of record:
William F. Compton (1846-1888),
Benjamin Franklin Compton (1848-?),
George Washington Compton (1850-?),
Sarah "Sallie" M. Compton-Pugh (1852-1900), and
Elizabeth "Tody" Compton (1854-1854).
Mary's Husband, Richard, passed away shortly after their last child was born in 1854, and Mary was married to Joseph Kirkman on 23 March 1858 at her father's house in Marengo County, Alabama. Joseph and Mary had one son in 1859.
Shortly after Mary was married to Joseph she passed away circa 1859, and family records state she is buried at Payne's Chapel Methodist Church, Dixons Mills, Marengo County, Alabama.
