Edward Douglas Morelock, 65, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his residence in Burleson.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Bethesda Cemetery in Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.
Ed was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Fort Worth to Helen Hope and Ira Lee Morelock. Ed grew up in the Burleson area, deciding to make his permanent home here. He graduated from Burleson High School in 1962. He worked for the Burleson post office for 30 years, retiring in August 1999. The Burleson community came to know him for his regular smile and always drinking Dr Peppers. Ed was also a longtime follower of Burleson Elks football, traveling around the state and never missing a game. He was a founder of the Burleson ex-Students Association, helping plan the annual homecoming parade. Ed loved to travel Texas to find the little out-of-the-way diners and enjoyed traveling around to watch Texas football, including the Texas Aggies. The family would like to extend its thanks to Odyssey HealthCare Hospice who gave such loving and excellent care.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Nancy and Bobbie; and brother, Joe.
Survivors: Son, Trent Morelock and wife, Dr. Ruth Ann Adell, of Waxahachie; daughter, Trisha McDonell and husband, Richard, of Austin; brothers, Danny Morelock of Fort Worth, Chris Morelock and wife, Soon, of Fort Worth; sister, Ann Morelock of Cleburne; and grandchild, Ethan McDonell of Austin.
