Funeral for Nellie A. Chase of McMinnville will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church, McMinnville, with the Rev. Terry O'Connell officiating.

Mrs. Chase died June 5, 2004, in Rose House, McMinnville. She was 83. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.

She was born May 13, 1921, in Albany, Minn., daughter of Christopher and Anna Jungels Ahles. She was raised and educated in Melrose, Minn. While waitressing in Dexter, Minn., she met John J. Chase and they married Nov. 21, 1941, in Austin, Minn.

The Chases moved to St. Paul, Minn., in 1949. Her husband preceded her in death in 1960.

She worked 23 years for Buckbee Mears Electronics as an inspector before retiring in 1983, when she moved to McMinnville. Mrs. Chase was a member of St. James church and volunteered for 10 years with the state Adult & Family Services Division.

She loved spending time with her family and was an avid bowler. Her daughters said, "She was a good mom and we will love and miss her."

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Hofman of McMinnville and Linda Rinkes of Klamath Falls; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Legacy VNA Hospice-McMinnville.
