Kenneth Leroy Hobbie, the son of George Hobbie and Mayme Sackhoff, was born on November 20, 1920, at Tipton, Kansas. He passed away on June 5, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 16 days.

Kenneth graduated from High School in Osborne, Kansas. After graduating he he worked on the family farm and then enlisted in the United States Navy on July 23, 1942, and was honorably discharged on January 15, 1946, serving his country during World War II.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Laura Bulthaup on July 23, 1946 in Beloit, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children, Kenneth, Carol and Ronald.

They resided in Beloit, Kansas where Kenneth worked for the Gas Service Company. In 1950 the company transferred him to Superior, Nebraska where he managed the company office for a total of 35 years before retiring in December of 1985.

Kenneth was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW, and a charter member of Elks Lodge #2197, all of Superior.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Laura on October 7, 1998; daughter, Carol Butler; two brothers, George and Dwight James; and one sister, Evelyn Snedden.

Memorial services were held on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Danny Jackson officiating. Music was "Amazing Grace", "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me" and "How Great Thou Art".

Private family inurnment was in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the Superior Good Samaritan Center or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
