William M. Lee served as a PVT in Company F under Colonel, Trezevant C. Hawpe's 31st Regiment Texas Calvary.

The 1870 Williamson Co. Census shows John Henry Crawson (Crowson), age 15 in residence with the William M. Lee family. John was orphaned at the age of 9 by the death of his father and apparently his mother. John's father, William Samuel Crowson, died 31 Jan 1863 at Camp Douglas Civil War Prison. It is not known when and how his mother, Permela R. Johnson died, it is said that she died in a fire and John Henry was raised by William and his wife Martha Ann Jolly.
