Mrs. Eleanor Morgan was born April 26, 1813. She was the daughter of Williams and Mary Willcockson. She moved to Illinois with parents when a child, and from there to Iowa in Sept. 1855 and settled in deep river Township, Poweshiek Co. She was married to John Morgan in Oct. 1829. Mrs. Morgan was the mother of 12 children, all of which lived to have families, two of which are now dead; Mary E. wife of Christopher Cox, died May 22, 1864 and Louisa, wife of John Hillman, died Oct. 1872. The 10 are still alive. her husband died May 21, 1882. Mrs. Morgan united with the Missionary-Baptist Church about 1842 and lived a consistent Christian life until the hour of her death. She died in the city of Des Moines, Iowa on May 9, at 9 o'clock p.m.. She was buried beside her husband in the Deep River Cemetery, May 11, funeral services conducted by H. W. Rebok. She died May 9, 1887.
