Obituary:

Funeral services for Edwin S. Crawford were held Monday afternoon at the late home in North Warren, Rev Howard A. Welch officiating. There bearers were Niven C. Crawford, Newell Eugley, H.W. Flanders and Rev. Howard A. Welch. Interment was in the Blake Cemetery at North Warren.

Although born in Nobleboro, April 24, 1845, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Crawford, the third child of a family of nine, Mr. Crawford had spent most of his life in Warren. At the age of 19 he went to Yreka, California and worked there three years in the gold mines. Owing to the extreme dampness of that work he fell victim to malaria and was compelled to return to Maine for his health. He was united in marriage to Miss Emily Stetson of Warren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Stetson, and of this union one daughter was born. Mr. Crawford at that time was proprietor of a lumber mill and continued in the business there until a few years ago when the mill burned.

He was lovingly cared for by his daughter Miss Mable Crawford during the latter part of his life. He took much delight in the annual family gatherings when folks came from many surrounding towns for dinner at the North Warren home. His brother Niven faithfully visited him every week and it was just plain that the two were always most devoted to each other. Besides the daughter, the surviving relatives are his brother Niven C. And two sisters Mrs. Emily Lawry of Warren and Mrs. Willard Anderson of California.
