Madeen (Sis) Blair, 87, passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 14, 2001.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, August 17, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Albert Hannigan of Gospel Tabernacle, officiating. He will be assisted by Jerry Cornell of Gospel Tabernacle and her nephew, Rick Liles. Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM Friday at the Loop Community Cemetery, Loop, Texas.

She was born to Jess and Alice Liles in the Ashmore Community in Gaines County, Texas on February 14, 1914.

Her family, who were pioneer farmers in that area, consisted of four brothers and one sister, all of whom preceded her in death.

Her family played a prominent role in founding the Ashmore Baptist church over 75 years ago.

She married Jess Blair in Lovington, New Mexico on June 20, 1932.

The family moved to Big Spring in 1945.

Mrs. Blair was a person who loved life and liked to be with people.

Well known as a talented artist, she was awarded many prizes for her art.

She worked as a beautician for many years.

Her passions were her family and her church. She was a lifelong Christian and went on four international missionary trips to Asia and Europe.

Survivors include her husband, Jess Blair of Big Spring; daughter, Barbara Blair of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son and daughter-in-law, Stephan and Judy Blair of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Mike Hallmark of Belize; her beloved grandchildren, Scott Blair of New Orleans, Louisiana, Tyson Blair of Austin, Derek Koontz, Rose Hallmark Cantu and Odis Hallmark all of Dallas and great granddaughter, Zoie Koontz.

The family wishes to express their great appreciation to Mary Tate and the personnel of Home Hospice for their kindness and care during Madeen’s illness.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, %Lucy Bonner, P.O. Box 2121, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2121. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
