Julia Cswercko Bahre, 74, of Canton, died Tuesday, (November 12, 2002) at home, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Julia was the loving wife of Howard W. Bahre, Jr. Born December 11, 1927, in Burlington, daughter of the late George and Mary (Monick) Cswercko, she had been a resident of the Canton area all of her life.

Julia was a strong and kind-hearted woman who was a constant loving companion to her devoted husband Howard, whom she married in 1948. She loved traveling and getting together with family and friends, rooting for her UCONN Women's basketball team, fishing in Maine and being a volunteer at the Canton Historical Museum.

Julia is survived by her husband, Howard W. Bahre, Jr.; her three loving sons; Howard W. Bahre, III of Barkhamsted, James H. Bahre of Bolton and Steven G. Bahre of Cape Coral, FL; three wonderful daughters-in-law, Janet B. Bahre of Barkhamsted, Pamela L. Bahre of Hartford and Kathleen M. Bahre of Cape Coral, FL; five beloved grandchildren, Matthew H. Bahre of Burlington, Jennifer O. Bahre, Alexander J. Bahre, Samuel J. Bahre of Bolton and Steven G. Bahre, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL. She is survived by her brother, John Cswercko of Omaha, NE; and her sister, Veronica Cswercko Bossardt of Canton; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends and family. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, George Cswercko, Mary Stanulis, Steven Cswercko, Susan Perrault, Helen Bossardt, Anna Krish, Ethel Bossardt, infant Julia Cswercko.

Friends may call at the Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rte 4, Unionville, TODAY from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral procession will be from The Ahern Funeral Home, Thursday, 9:15 a.m. followed by the Liturgy of the Word at the Church of St. Patrick in Collinsville. Burial will be in the family plot at Dyer Cemetery in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450 or the American Heart Assoc., 5 Brookside Blvd., Wallingford, CT 06492 or the McLean Canton VNA, 75 Great Pond Rd., Simsbury, CT 06070 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
