Son of Lewis and Ann Grinnell Dodd he married Emily Steiger September 14, 1851 and had the following children: George Allen, Alice Mary,Hannah Jane, William Howard and Charles Ellsworth. He served in the Civil War, First Lieutenant, Company I, 207th PA Infantry Regiment, enlisted 10 Sep 1864 in Lycoming County PA; wounded in the third Battle of Petersburg on 2 Apr 1865 and died in hospital at City Point, VA on 6 Apr 1865. His youngest was just a year old when he was killed just 6 days before the war ended.
