John Edward "Jack" Parry, Sr., was the son of Edward Parry (1875-1952) and Eliza Dawson (1872-1952). He was the youngest of six children, all born in England. The Parry family relocated to America in 1914.

Jack married first, Laurette Annette Belair (1911-1962) on 26 Nov 1936 in Salem, Rockingham County, NH. Together, they had the following children:
- John Edward Parry, Jr.
- Carol Parry
- Judith Ann Parry (1939-1999)
- Richard Brian "Dick" Parry (1941-2002)
- Donald Francis Parry (1943-2008)

His second wife was Marietta June (Savage) Alton (1909-1997), whom he married on 3 Apr 1965 in Mountain View, Santa Clara County, CA.

Jack served repeatedly in the United States Navy. His first enlistment began in 1927. Later, he was called upon again during WWII, and a third time he served in Korea in 1950.

Jack died at Chico Community Memorial Hospital.
