Medina County Gazette-October 26, 1888: mention of the death of B. F. Grandy was omitted last week. Mr. G. worked for the W. &L. E., and while crossing the track the cars backed and crushed him to death. It is thought he was instantly killed. He was working at Oak Harbor and the remains arrive to your Saturday. Funeral services Sunday at the house, conducted by Rev. Seeholtzer. Lodi loses a good citizen, the family a kind husband and loving father. They have the sympathy of the entire community in their second and sad affliction.

Elsewhere in the same paper: B. F. Grandy, for a number of years past a resident of Lodi, was killed by the cars at Oak Harbor on Friday, October 12. Mr. Grandy had been any employee of the railroad company for some time past working at the masonry, and while at work at Oak Harbor in crossing the track he was caught between two cars they killed instantly. His remains were brought to Lodi Saturday evening on the train and taken to his home, followed by a number of sympathizing friends and neighbors, where and afflicting scene was witnessed. A few short hours before he had left his home in the full strength and vigor of manhood. He was now still and cold in death. The last Council had been given to his children; the last kind word had been spoken to a beloved companion. He leaves a wife and four children, his two oldest boys married, a girl 4 and a boy 10 years old. Mr. Grandy was a good citizen and respected by all who knew him, and his family have the sympathies of the entire community in this hour of their great affliction.
