Services for John Henry Hemphill of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Hemphill, 60, died of a gunshot Sunday, April 12, 2009, at his home.

A retired factory worker and business owner, Mr. Hemphill was born in Greenwood. He attended Leflore County Schools and was a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. He had retired from Medart Inc. He enjoyed socializing with his family, gardening and yard work.

Mr. Hemphill is survived by his son, Timothy Williams of Greenwood; his fiance, Rosie Harris of Greenwood; three step-daughters, Juanita Williams, Nancy Williams and Nodia Harris, all of Greenwood; six step-sons, Willie Williams, Lee Andrew Williams, Jerry Williams, Hollie Williams, Maurice Harris and Demetrice Harris, all of Greenwood; his sister, Florine Sanders of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Wesley Hemphill and Jessie Hemphill Jr., both of Greenwood.

Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at Great Southern Funeral Home. A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Great Southern Funeral Home.

The Rev. J.B. Brown will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Derrick Hemphill, James Littleton, Jessie Hemphill, Willie Williams, Harvey Sanders, Frederick Cornell, Lee Andrew Williams and Bruce Hemphill. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Williams, John Wesley Hemphill, Jessie Hemphill Jr., Robert Shaw, Leroy Cole and Robert Dillard.

Great Southern Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Hogue Cemetery in Carrollton.
