EVERETT, FORMER POLICE CHIEF, DIES
One-Time Head Of Hamilton Force Succumbs At 86
Funeral services for James Everett, former Hamilton Township Police Chief, who died last night at his home, 2633 Nottingham Way, Mercerville, at the age of 86, will be held from his home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. E. C. Burke, pastor of Hamilton Square Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, under direction of Poulson & Van Hise. Friends may call Monday evening.
Mr. Everett retired in 1935 after having done police work in the township for 60 years. He was for 18 years chief of the small but effective force which the township maintained before the establishment of the present police department nine years ago. In 1926, at his own request, he returned to patrol duty and despite his advanced years continued his active service until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Everett, three sons, James H., Charles H. and Raymond; a sister, Mrs. Keturah Pierson, of Hopewell; a brother, George R. Everett, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
