Uncle Jimmie Hill afterwards had casket made from its lumber
Funeral services for Uncle Jimmie Hill, of Arcadia, were held Fri afternoon at two at the Brethren church in Arcadia and were conducted by the pastor. Rev. I.B. Wike, The church was filled with the relatives, neighbors and friends of the fine old men. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Rev. I.H. Wike paid a special tribute to the life of Mr. Hill, a former minister and to his Christian manhood, Burial was at the Dunkard cemetery east of Arcadia.
Uncle Jimmie's casket was one of which he himself made and which has been in the care of the Shaffer undertakers of Arcadia for several years, awaiting the time it should he needed.
The casket, of fine walnut, was made by henry Essig, a noted cabinet maker in Arcadia, from timber froma large walnut tree grown on the Hill farm five miles east and one and half miles south of Arcadia, which also was the homestead farm of his parents, James and Sallie (Edwards) Hill.
the tree was planted by Mr. Hill's mother and himself when he was a small lad of seven or continued to page 2) no more pages in that same bidner so maybe the rest will be in Noblesvil library, good luck on finding the rest of info.
