A US veteran, Charles served in the Medical Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He received a Battlefield Commission & was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, & the Purple Heart. He had a 29 year career with the J.C. Penny Co.

The family lived in LaFayette & Frankfort IN, & Ft Mitchell KS, bef moving to San Diego CA in 1961. where Charles was a well-known businessman, a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

Isabelle worked as a design consultant for Lessler's Design in San Diego, & volunteered for the Red Cross, well known for her gourmet cooking -- friends looked forward to receiving her annual Christmas cookie gift package. She created beautiful knit & needlepoint hand work, donating hundreds of colorful hand knit scarves & scores of crocheted lace angels for cancer patients.

They loved their children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren, also survived by dtrs Carol (Mike) YAVNO of Santee & Julia (Gary) GORTON of Jamul; son, Dr Michael (Mary) HAMMACK of El Cajon; 07 grandchildren, Bill & Michael YAVNO, Jennifer, David & Chris HAMMACK & Greg & Nicole GORTON & two great-grandchildren, Brandon & Mia Isabel MORENO.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents: Frances (KNAPP) & Robert Lincoln HAMMACK; sisters, Gertrude SPIRES, Helen HOGAN & Marie PIZZATO, & bro Robert HAMMACK.

Isabelle was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Lavina Brandt O'Gara; father, Joseph Sylvester O'GARA, & sisters, Mary Jane WEILAND & Julia MACCRACLEM.
