Enlisted as a Private, Company F ("Okefenokee Rifles"), 26th Regiment, Georgia (Volunteer) Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States Army on August 15, 1861 in Charlton County, GA. Company F became Company G on May 8, 1862. Wounded at the Battle of Second Manassas (the 2nd Bull Run), Prince William County, Virginia August 28, 1862. Discharged on account of wounds April 22, 1864.
