Mellie Myrtle Dempsey died at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 7 days, in her home in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. Her last residence was 1619 Waldron Road. She has lived in the Fort Smith community for 22 years.

She was the wife of W. T. Dempsey and the daughter of Tom Reynolds and Arkansas (Woods) Reynolds.

Survivors included her husband, W.T. Dempsey; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Butler, aka as Myrtle (Dempsey) Dempsey-Butler; a son, Buell Dempsey of the home; two sisters, Mrs. L.D. Dempsey and Mrs. Ester Casey, both of St. Louis, Missouri; nine grandchildren, one being Jack Dempsey, of Chanute Field, Illinois.

Funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. on November 11, 1941, at Midland Heights Methodist Church with Reverend W.W. Allbright officiating.

Burial was at Rose Lawn Memorial Park, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Arrangements made by Fentress Funeral Home.

Cause of Death: Uterine Cancer
