Services for Odis C. Cassels, 86, of Zavalla, were held Sunday, September 6 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Fiedlers Cemetery.

Mr Cassels was born Nov 7, 1900 and died Friday in a Beaumont hosptial after an extended illness. He was a retired barber and had lived in Zavalla for ten years. He was a former resident of Bridge City. He was a 50 year Mason in the Bridge City lodge and was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Cassels of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Jane Cassels of Beaumont; daughter and son-in-law Charleen and Ed Morton of Nederland; brothers Sammy Dearmond of Henderson, Mtahie Dearmond of Bay City, Leamond Dearmond of Nacogdoches; grandsons Kenneth Cassels of Orange, Joe Cassels of US Navy, Curtis Morton of Austin, David Morton of Nederland, Carl and Larry Morton of Nederland; grandson and granddaughters-in-law Terry and Tammy Morton of Port Neches; great-granddaughter Jessica Morton of Port Neches; great grandson Daniel Morton of Port Neches.
