Clarissa Swan
At the home of Fred Harr, near Beverly, on Jan. 20, 1904, Mrs. Presly G. Swan. She was born in Fayette County , Pa., on Jan. 31, 1819, being 85 years, 11 months and 20 days old at her death. She was the second oldest of four children, all having passed over the dark river before her.

Her maiden name was Carter. She was married to Presly G. Swan in 1855. In 1878 they moved to Ottawa County , Kan. , where they resided until her husband's death, the 13th day of May 1891. Since that time she has resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harr, who cared tenderly for her and did all they could to make her last days on earth as comfortable as possible. Mrs. Harr was her only child.

Mrs. Swan united with the Baptist church in her youth, to which she held all through life. She leaves besides her daughter and son-in-law, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held at Monroe , conducted by Rev. Jackman and the writer. Interment was made in the Monroe Cemetery .

This family has been sorely afflicted, this being the fifth death since Thanksgiving Day. May God bless all the bereaved. – T.M. Strange
