Mrs Amanda R. Cameron widow of the late Kendall Cameron passed to the great beyond Sunday morning after an illness of several months. She had been a resident of this community for some thirty years and was loved and respected by all. She was always a good friend and neighbor ever ready to lighten the burdens of others. She will be greatly missed in the community.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at her late home, conducted by Rev. R.C. Snodgrass. Interment in Dallas Center Cemetery.

Amanda R. Phillips, was born in Van Buren co, Iowa Sept 9, 1843 and died at her home in New Market, Iowa Aug 7, 1921 aged 77 years 10 months and 29 days.

Her mother died when she was but a young girl and she assumed the cares of the home and taught school in the neighborhood.

She was married to Kendall Cameron Nov 14, 1865 at Keosauqua, Iowa, near which place they resided for a few years, then moved to Dallas county, Iowa where they resided until 1892 when they came to Taylor County.

Mrs Cameron was the mother of eleven children, seven of whom remain to mourn their loss. They are: Edwin S. of near Des Moines, Anna I. McColm and Carra E. Lathrop of New Market, J. Ray near Bedford, Clyde L. who lived at home with his mother, W.K. of Lincoln and Phil E. of Casper, Wyo., all of whom were present to pay the last tribute of love to the mother who had lived and cared for them so tenderly during their childhood and through the intervening years.

In early life she was converted to Christ and always kept the faith and lived a true conscientious Christian life. About 18 year ago she united with the Church of Christ at New Market and was an active member until her ill health prevented service.

About 13 years ago she had a serious sickness from which she never fully recovered. She was a patient sufferer during the years of her affliction, always cheerful, hopeful and loving. Besides her children she leaves a sister, Mrs Editha Fatherson of Mt Sterling, Iowa, and a brother Dr. Frank Phillips of Dallas, Texas, and a host of friends and neighbors who loved her as a mother.
