Lieutenant Colonel Emory W. Lockette, Sr. (pronounced Lock-ETTE), beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, prepared to join his Heavenly Father Nov. 10, 2005, from an undetected rapid cancer. Born in Terrell County, Ga.

He was a graduate of Brunswick County Training School, N.C., in 1942. Later a graduate of Hampton Institute in Virginia, major; engineering, science and management with-a bachelors degree in architectural engineering, 1949.

He served in World War II and the Korean War.-Emory, a 56 year resident of Boulder City was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation as a civil engineer, chief construction contract compliance branch 39 years. Also served on the Army corp. of engineers. He was a retired lieutenant colonel, U.S. Army. President of AE Builders and Assoc. Accolades and Interests: 1960 - Nevada Department of Education certificate of merit; 1968 - College of Engineering and Technology keynote speaker; 1970 Department of the Army Certificate; 1972 edition of personalities of the West and Mid-West; 1972 Reclamation Technical Club Denver; 1981 University of Santa Clara School of Law; 1984 U.S. Small Business Administration Award; 2004 Master Gardener-University of Nevada; 1279th Combat Engineers Alumni Association; active member of his church, American Legion; AAUW; Toast Masters; Rotary and Elks Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing, was an avid gardener, his passion was designing and building for his family and friends.

He is forever loved and remembered by Agnes P. Lockette., wife; Anne Richardson, his sister; Sharon Matrisciano, daughter; Emory W. Lockette, Jr., son; daughter and son in-law; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming St., Boulder City. Graveside at Boulder City Cemetery.
