She was born in Springville, Utah on August 2, 1920 to J. Laning and Caroline Ferguson Hall.
Mary attended schools in Provo, Lake Shore and Spanish Fork, Utah. She married Wesley C. Carter on October 26, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mary was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many church positions throughout her life including Relief Society president in Epsom, Surrey, England, where she and her family lived in 1962 as church building missionaries. Mary also lived in Renfrew, Scotland, Atlanta, Georgia, and McLean, Virginia while serving with her husband in the church building program.
She was actively involved in Daughters of Utah Pioneers, where she was a charter member of Camp Blue Spruce over 50 years ago.
Mary is survived by daughters, Carol Rees (Kay) of North Salt Lake, Marilyn Cassidy (David) of Provo, LeAnn Reyes (Angel) of Provo, and son, Billy Carter of Provo; brothers Norley Hall of Springville and Bert Hall of Orem, 24 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, her husband, Wesley, her son, Kent, and a great-grandchild, Charlie Youngblood.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rivergrove Second Ward Chapel, 780 North 700 West, Provo. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, from 6-8 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.
