Evelyn Mae Carter Jackson was born December 12, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents were John Linn Carter, Sr.,and Inez Rowena Thompson Carter. The family moved to Takoma Park, Maryland, during the depression. She married Luther Harden Jackson on February 5, 1949. Evelyn died in Stuart, Florida, on September 13, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Col. (Ret.) Luther H. Jackson of the home. Also survived by her daughter, Gail and husband Kevin Reid,and their daughter Kate Reid of Campbell, CA;daughter, Lois and husband John R Sturch, Sr., and their children Erin and John Sturch, Jr.,of Moore, Oklahoma; son, Paul Jackson and wife Diana and their children Truman and Sterling of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Lynn Jackson of Carson City, NV.; daughter Lael and husband George Burns and their children Jordan and Noah of Stuart, FL.; and daughter June and husband Mike Morton and their children Daniel, Michael, Mariah, and Madison of Dayton, NV. She is also survived by her brother, John Linn Carter, Jr., of Tennessee, four nephews, and one niece.
