COUNTY PIONEER IN DEATH'S SLEEP VENERABLE JACOB BURDEN, OF UNIOPOLIS, SUFFERER FROM PARALYSIS, NOW AT REST.

Following a long illness from paralysis, the venerable Jacob Burden, 74, of Uniopolis, passed away this morning at 5 o'clock. His life was despaired of for many months after he suffered a stroke, but he lingered in his sufferings longer than was expected. Mr. Burden was a life-long resident of this county, having been born in Clay township.
He was the son of Jacob and Rebecca Burden. He was married the first time in 1869 to Miss Susan E. Golden and three children were born to them, as follows: Mrs. Lucinda Sibert, of Lima, Mrs. Louise Carter of Lima, Mrs. Louise Carter of Uniopolis and Mrs. Jennie Duvall of Burlington, Iowa. His first wife died in 1880 and in the following year Mr. Burden was married to Miss Rebecca Lippincott. To this union the following four children were born: Mrs. Clifford Shaw, Lima; Mrs. Elda Lump, Troy; Joseph Burden, Lima, and Mrs. Catherine Taylor
of Unionpolis and Edward Burden of Columbus. There are thirty-three grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren surviving. Mr. Burden was one of a family of fourteen children, all of whom are dead with the
exception of Allen Burden of Lakeview, Henry Burden of Wapakoneta and Mrs. Elizabeth Gessler of Unionpolis. No funeral arrangements have been made.

A handwritten note indicates he was buried at Fairmount Cemetery.
