"My great grandmother married Benjamin Franklin Hall. He had not planned to remarry, nor had my great grandmother who had been married twice and had two children.
They apparently met and became good Friends, which led them to marry with the understanding that upon death each, they would be buried with their former spouses. They married 1873 Polk Co., and had two daughters. [See above]
In 1900 Benjamin was a Ferryman. Back in 1880, the family had lived in Buena Vista, Polk Co., Where Ben had been a teamster. Also, little Cara was only 6 yrs old and Benjamin's mother, Martha Hall, a widow, was living with them. She died in 1889. She may have moved around staying with different children for perionds of time, which was common practive back then...Sarah died 26 Feb, 1929 and Benjamin bought a double headstone as he planned to be buried with her...Benjamin Hall passed on 03 May 1940. Nellie of course, respected his wishes and he was buried with his beloved Sarah at Belle Passi Cemetery. My great grandmother did not remarry. but went to live with her daughter, my grandmother, and grandfather, who lived in California. She died in 1949, just a couple of years before her great granddaughters were born. My grandparents took her to her 1st beloved Husband. George Scott Royce. Who died of "Consumption" (TB) back in 1890 and her little baby boy who died 2 months after his 1st birthday. So that's the story and I hope I've answered your questions.Someone commented that Sarah had been in the Meeker party that had lost so many people coming across a "Short Cut" to Oregon, but they are in error since Sarah was born in Oregon. Just to let you know."
