Abbott was a 15-year employee of Choctaw Transportation Co. and former employee of Bay Line Transportation. He was a native of Prattville and a longtime resident of Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Abbott of Mobile; three sons, Mark Abbott of Houston, and Dennis Abbott and James Abbott, both of Mobile; two daughters, Sharon Henderson of Minneapolis, and Gwen Niznik of Altus, Okla.; one brother, William Abbott of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Carolyn Parnell of Pensacola, Anita Knapp of Mobile and Deloise Wade of Lexington, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon Monday until the 2 p.m. funeral in the chapel at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
