Evelyn had one sister, Ruth. She never married, but kept a kosher home for her father until his death. She graduated from Washington University in 1931 and was in management at Bell Telephone Company. She loved to travel, and traveled all over the world, often with her double first cousin, Ann Shapiro Werner. Their dads were brothers and their moms were sisters. Although she never had children of her own, she was like a grandmother to my youngest sister, whose own grandparents had died. Evelyn was always very interested in all that the children and grandchildren of Jack Shapiro were doing and was an encouraging person.
