Mr. George Henry Barr, of Payneville, 75 years old, died July 20, 1963 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville. He was born March 3, 1888, in Breckinridge County, a son of Robert L. Barr and Melissa O'Bryan Barr. He was a teacher in Meade County schools for more than 20 years, was the County tax assessor for 2 terms, and a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Barr; 4 sons, Thomas E. Barr of Payneville, Edwin L. Barr, Brandenburg, G.H. Barr Jr., Louisville and John D. Barr, Payneville; six daughters, Mrs. Baxter Stith, Payneville, Mrs. Robert Knott, Andyville, Mrs. Jack Adkisson, Brandenburg, Mrs. Charles Bruner, Louisville, Mrs. Joseph K. Elder, Webster, and Mrs. John Zeitz, Guston; 52 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; 5 brothers, Lawrence Barr, Union Star; Bert, Paul, Lambert & Marvin Barr, all of St. Louis, MO, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Webb also of St. Louis. One daughter Lorena Agnes died in infancy.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary Magdalen Church July 23rd, 10 a.m. by Father Mark Rietzen. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Sturgeon Funeral Home.
