Mr. Hoffer was born May 19, 1920 in Chicago, IL to Hungarian immigrants Louis Hoffer and Pearl Prezent Hoffer. Mr. Hoffer was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fort Meade; WW II U.S. Army veteran, serving from Jan. 1942 to Sept. 1945. He received the American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. After his service to his country, Mr. Hoffer graduated from Northwestern University in 1948 with a BS/BA Degree in Business. His working career was spent with the Internal Revenue
Service in Jacksonville, FL until his retirement in 1980, when he moved with his wife to her hometown of Fort Meade.
Mr. Hoffer was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mrs. Reba Mills Hoffer, who passed away March 8, 2009. He is survived by his brother, Ted Hoffer, Delray Beach, FL; sister, Mary H. Heller, Las Vegas, NV; 2 nephews and 3 nieces.
Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00am, Fri., April 17, 2009 at Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vince Price officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make contributions to the First United Methodist Church, Fort Meade.
