Services were on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Porter Loring Mortuary in San Antonio. Graveside service, in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Ellen Joyce Fischer passed away Sunday April 5, 2009, reaching the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She grew up in Rockdale, was an accomplished violinist and pianist who enjoyed playing for her church when growing up. She lived and worked in other cities, but Rockdale was always home.

Joyce worked in Civilian Personnel for the US Air Force at Kelly, Randolph and Electronic Security Command. At retirement, she received the Distinguished Service Award for the Air Force. She enjoyed square dancing, fishing, traveling, playing SkipBo and music. She was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church for over 50 years.

Surviving her are; daughters, Marsha, JoAnn Clifton and husband Bill; son, Jerry Fischer and wife Mary; granddaughter, Gretchen Cook and husband Andy, great grandson, Alexander Joseph.

Honorary pallbearers were Andy Cook, Shavawn Brozovic, Christopher Gorrell, Seven Gorrell, Gary Gorrell and Brenda McCarty.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to the American Lung Association.
