Norman Woodrow Lawrence, 90, St. Clair, departed this life in St. James Saturday, July 14, 2012.

Mr. Lawrence was born in Leslie Feb. 28, 1922, the son of Alexander Lawrence and wife Ollie C., nee Armistead.

On June 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mildred Ella Brown and three daughters came to bless this union.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by two daughters, Linda Sachs, St. Clair, and Debra Lawrence, Washington; eight grandchildren, Julie Binsbacher and husband Bill, Union, Jodie Hoeft and husband Doug, Beaufort, John Sachs and girlfriend Danielle Smith, St. Clair, John Sennott IV and wife Lisa and Mark Sennott and wife Heather, all of St. Louis, Shane Sennott and fiancee Sheila and Kellie Sennott, all of Jefferson City, and Christie Sennott Winchester and husband Dan, Boulder, Colo.; former son-in-law, John Sennott III, Jefferson City; two brothers, Raymond and Herman Lawrence, both of Stanton; three great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lawrence; parents, Alexander and Ollie Lawrence; daughter, Marcia Sennott; one brother, Cecil Lawrence; and one sister, Alice Sarigiani.

Mr. Lawrence was a Christian, having been baptized at a young age.

He was proud to have served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, entering Dec. 11, 1942, and receiving his honorable discharge Sept. 25, 1946. Mr. Lawrence received seven Bronze Battle Stars and a Purple Heart medal during his enlistment. On Sept. 26, 1946, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as sergeant until his discharge Jan. 30, 1947.

Mr. Lawrence was a member of the National American Legion and V.F.W. Post 2482, St. Clair. He also was a member and retiree of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge 41, District 9, St. Louis.

After his discharge, Mr. Lawrence worked on the family dairy farm. In 1965 he was employed with Borg-Warner, Sullivan. After nine years with Borg- Warner, Mr. Lawrence was employed at Pacer Industries, Washington, for 19 years. He then worked a short time at Siesco, Union, retiring at the age of 73.

When Mr. Lawrence wasn't at work he was farming, and he especially enjoyed raising cattle and hay. In recent years, he enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball and playing bingo with his friends at the Missouri Veterans Home. Nothing meant more to Mr. Lawrence than his family and spending time with them gave his great joy.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 17, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Chauncey Clay officiating.

Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. Clair.

Memorials to the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James Activity Department, are preferred.
