OBITUARY
Barbara Hertzler died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Essig, Feb 2, 1912. Aged 84 years one month and seven days.

Barbara McNeal, eldest daughter of James and Margaret McNeal was born in Lancaster Penn Oct 26, 1827. When her parents came to Wayne county, Indiana in 1833. In 1835 they removed to Hamilton county Indiana. Here she grew to womanhood. Being the eldest daughter in a family of eleven children, she shared with her mother the household chores, a dutiful daughter, doing cheerfully her appointed task.

May 10, 1849, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Albertson of Wayne county, Indiana. She resided near Washington, Wayne, Indiana until the death of her husband, Oct 18, 1851. She returned to the home of her father with two children, James Henry and Margaret, both of whom have preceded her to the world beyond.

Sept 22, 1858, she was united in marriage to Jacob Hertzler. Of this union five children were born, John Hartzler*, of Cicero, Mrs. Nicholas McCracken, of Blackwell Oklahoma, Mrs. Daniel Dienst, of Coffeeville, Kansas, Mrs. Jacob Essig of Arcadia, Mrs.Daniel Wann of Noblesville, the children and two brothers, John McNeal of cleveland Oklahoma, and Hugh McNeal of Kokomo, Indiana survive her.

During all the years of her invalidism her greatest pleasure has been the love manifested by kindred and friends while waiting her call to eternal life. She was united with the Evangelical church and was a woman of high christian character throughout her long life.

Mrs. Hertzler was a lady of refined tastes Her quiet pleasant way won her many friends She was highly respected and honorably spoken for many things complimentary might be said about such a long, virtous life, spent in doing good, but it would only serve to draw out more and more expressions that would not be exhausted.

The funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. After an impressive funeral service conducted by Rev. M.R. Mohler who preached from Rev. 14:13 Blessed are the dead which lie in the Lord.
