Ronald Hartman died at the age of 59, 5 days before his 60th Birthday, at the Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa. He resided in Cedar, Iowa, the son of Fairy Louise (Morris) Hartman and Roger Earl Hartman. He graduated from Eddyville High School in 1967. For a short time he worked for John Morrell and Company, in Ottumwa, Iowa, then in March of 1969, was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam. After his discharge, he married Barbara Van Ommen, they later divorced. He went back to work at John Morrell's for a short time, then started farming south of Oskaloosa. While farming, he attended nights at Indian Hills Community College. He also had worked for Dean Strawn Allis Chalmers Dealership vand Whitaker Implement in Oskaloosa, Iowa. In the late 1970's he opened Hartman Motors. In 1984 he bought a Semi, and started driving, mostly flatbed and grain. In 1988 he started driving Semi's for Wal-Mart. In September of 2008, he was honored as Truck Driver of the Month for the State of Iowa, by the Iowa Motor Truck Association. Ron drove for Wal-Mart for 21 years. On November 13th, 1993, he married Rhonda Norris, in Cedar, Iowa. In the past, he has served as a 4-H Leader and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Hartman. He is survived by: His 2nd wife of 15 years, Rhonda Hartman, of Cedar, Iowa, a daughter, Ranee Carter of Ogden, Iowa, a son, Barry Hartman, of Des Moines, Iowa, two step-sons, Jeremy Ingalls, of milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tony lehs of Des Moines, Iowa, a step-daughter, Tiah Hunt of Oskaloosa, Iowa, a brother, Gary Hartman of Oskaloosa, Iowa, plus five grandchildren, and his mother, Fairy Hartman, of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
