Zona Elizabeth Payne Cecil, 89, of Oneida, Tenn. died Saturday, April 16, 1994, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

She was born June 11, 1904, in Morgan County, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Polie Payne and Martha Pittman Payne of Oneida.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Huston Cecil; two sisters: Lona O'Neal and Idell Blevins; one brother, Dewey Payne; and two great-grandsons. She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Voila, and son-in-law, James Elmer Terry, of Oneida; 14 grandchildren: Curtis Terry and wife, Beulah, of Muncie, Ind.; Sue Dean Thompson and husband, Delmar, of Oneida; Virginia Mills and husband, Max, of Muncie, Ind.; Shirlean Phipps and husband, Stillman, of Muncie; Cletus Terry and wife, Dorothy, also of Muncie; Linda Terry and husband, Kenneth, of Blanchester, Ohio; Oralee Seagraves and husband, Lynn, of Richmond, Ind.; Gail Seven and husband, Steven, of Oneida; Ronnie Terry and wife, Jewell, of Jamestown; Doris Potter and husband, Junior, of Oneida; Shawn Beatty and husband, Charles Ray, of Oneida; Vella Lloyd and husband, Mike, of Oneida; Deborah Sexton and husband, Danny, Oneida; and Michael Terry and wife, Vanessa, of Jamestown. Also surviving are 36 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Ogilee Terry and Hazel Hancock, both of Oneida, and Reba Ellis of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jewell O'Neal of Oneida.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Seagraves and Rev. Curtis Terry officiating. Stillman Phillips and the New River Quartet and Anita Cole sang. Burial was in the Opossum Rock Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shannon Bowling, Dana Terry, Brian Seagraves, Andy Phipps Jr., Ronald Thompson, Mark Chitwood, Doug Watters and Shane Terry.
