Born Charles Eckart to John and Margaret Kreiner Eckart. He attended St. Benedict School and later Subiaco Academy. He later joined the Benedictine Fathers at Subiaco Abbey and became a priest taking the name Fr. Stephen. He loved to help out on the Abbey farm baling hay and other chores. He was a teacher and a coach at Subiaco Academy and then became head coach for the Sacred Heart Tigers in Muenster while he was assistant there. He came close to a state title coming in second place at state in TCIL during his tenure. Later he was transferred to St. Peter's in Lindsay then back to the Academy where he spent his last days. He was a beloved uncle to all of us, bringing us gifts that made his visits so special. They didn't cost much, but they were very entertaining. We love you and miss you Father Steve.
