Robert G Rutledge was a son of William Richard and Elizabeth Williams Rutledge. Robert was born and raised in Greenbriar, West Virginia.
Robert married Elizabeth Portlock Nov. 18, 1852. They settled down in McDonough Co., Illinois where they had a farm. My understanding is that the barn may still exist. Also, from one of the census's, it looks like brother John and his family may have lived with Robert and his family for a time.
