Funeral service for Robert "Bob" Mulligan, 66, of Halsey, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, in the Halsey Gymnasium with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Wood Lake. Bob Mulligan is survived by his wife, Sherry, of Halsey; four children, Mark and wife Judy Mulligan of Halsey, Robert J. and wife Marcy Mulligan of Tonkawa, Okla., Tanna and husband Richard Licking of Thedford, and Christi and husband Joe Leonard of Bassett; two step-children, Pamela and husband Russ Moody of Purdum, and Mike and wife Cheryl Moody of Purdum; sister Betty and husband Bill Joseph of Valentine; brother Doug and wife Nadine Mulligan of Ainsworth; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established to the Make a Wish Foundation or the Senior Steer R Scholarship Fund. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
John Robert (Bob) Mulligan was born August 18, 1942, in Valentine, Nebraska to John J. Mulligan and Bernys (Dick) M. Lovejoy Mulligan. He passed away at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska, on April 10, 2009, of cancer.
Bob graduated from Ainsworth High School with the class of 1961. In 1961 he married Mary E. Denny and to this union was born four children. He spent his life ranching in the Nebraska Sandhills. In 1987, he married Sherry Harsh Moody.
Bob is survived by his wife Sherry; daughter Tanna and husband Rick Licking; daughter Christi and husband Joe Leonard; son Mark Mulligan and wife Judy; and son Bobby Mulligan and wife March; stepdaughter Pam Moody and stepson Mike Moody; seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister Betty Joseph and husband Bill Joseph as well as brother Doug Mulligan.
