He was born in Kansas, Sept. 3, 1867, to William and Sarah Abernathy Howell. When he was seven years old, the family moved to this community where the rest of his life was spent. He was united in marriage with Miss Harriet Ursula Schiedler of this county. To this union were born four children. One of whom, Oden, died in June, 1933, at the age of 46.
Mr. and Mrs. Howell made their home in Lagro until seventeen years ago when they moved to Wabash. Since he moved here, Mr. Howell has attended the Middle Street M. E. church.
Surviving are the widow; three children, Mrs. Fay Coomler of Lagro, Thurn Howell of Kokomo and Vere Howell of this city; a sister, Miss Eva Howell and a brother, Isaac Howell of Warren with whom Miss Howell makes her home. Enos Howell and Mrs. Phyllis Cassidy, both dead, were brother and sister of Mr. Howell.
In his early life, Mr. Howell was a stone mason. Later he became engaged in stock buying. He was particularly well known in Wabash and Huntington counties and in Indianapolis where he was associated with the Livestock commission.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon. At 1:15 there will be short services from the residence and at 2 from the church. The Rev. A. G. Simmons will officiate. Burial will be made in Center Grove.
