WENATCHEE _ John E. Edgerton, 76, a longtime resident of Wenatchee, died Tuesday, May 4, 1993, in Central Washington Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1917, to Brainnard and Ameda (Steiner) Edgerton at Oroville where he received his education.
He married Jimtena ``Jan'' McCoy at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and they made their first home at Chelan.
Mr. Edgerton worked most of his life in construction, handling and setting dynamite. He went to work in 1942, at the Howe Sound Mine at the head of Lake Chelan. Mr. and Mrs. Edgerton moved in the early 1950s to Spokane where he owned and operated his own business, City Rock Removal. His company removed most of the rock for the Spokane Coliseum and did much of the road construction and rock removal in overpass and underpass construction in the Spokane area.
They returned to the Wenatchee area about 25 years ago, and Mr. Edgerton retired in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, ``Jan,'' at home; two sons, John C.K. Edgerton at home, and Frank E.J. Edgerton of Omak; two daughters, Mrs. Jake (Diana) Bower of East Wenatchee and Mrs. Michael (Dora) Dean of Winnemucca, Nev.; a brother, Lloyd Edgerton of Grants Pass, Ore.; a sister, Hazel Edwards of Louisiana; two half-sisters in the East; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
